Liquid Gold

Google*
In our parched continent, water is gold.
Despite the calendar advancing to autumn in the southern hemisphere, the garden has been so dry this week that the soil became hydrophobic.

In one drop of water are found all the secrets of all the oceans. ~ Kahil Gibran
Water is life's mater and matrix, mother and medium. There is no life without water.
~ Albert Szent-Gyorgyi

Last Wednesday, I surrendered to the unseasonal heat and watered the plants, mesmerized by the jeweled water droplets - clinging to the grass; rolling over the desiccated earth; finding a place to nestle in the leaves of  hardy succulents ……… The simple things in life can give so much pleasure while infusing us with gratitude.

Our bodies are moulded rivers. ~  Novalis

I don't know what is worse- too little or too much. Last year we set a new record for the amount of rainfall. Six or seven previously, we had a drought for months. Both- boo!

I agree- it's the little, simple things that give us much pleasure. Even just a deep breath of fresh air!

Great photos my teacher would be very proud if I could get anywhere that technique. Believe it or not in the land of rain we are short of water here in th uk.

I have to go get a glass of water now--I am thirsty!

We just watched a documentary by Yann Arthus-Bertrand about water and how key it is for us now and the challenges lying ahead for the future. I am convinced that there will be a war over water in our lifetime...

I wish that I could share some of the 3+ inches of rainfall that we have had in the past 24 hours. It does, however, make for a glorious spring, brimming with verdant greens!

I collect every drop of rain I can, in buckets and barrels around the garden....precious indeed; and the plants do not respond to the chlorinated water that comes from the hose like they do to the beautifully clean rain~ bon week-end~

This last week we finally had lots of rain, much needed as everything is starting to bloom because of the mild winter.

My succulents are growing like crazy with almost no water at all.

I hope you will come and see the feature I have on an amazing sculptor.

Very, very refreshing! We need rain, rain, rain.... As nice blue sky and sun is, but our groundwater level is down to next to nothing!

Wonderful images!
