Streetscape reflections in the Deyrolle window. |
Sylvie Thiriez, the distinctively unique Deyrolle and the original La Pâtisserie des Rêves are 3 places to which I always return. Endless hours have also been spent perusing, the specialist antique stores that are clustered in the surrounding streets.
Climbing the stairs at Deyrolle for the first time is like walking
through the wardrobe and finding Narnia. Established in 1831, a visit here can
be is an education in itself – and a wonderful place to purchase a distinctive
gift. Don't be fooled by the appearance of the ground floor - the magic of "the strangest shop in all of Paris" lies above.
La Pâtisserie des Rêves is the creative amalgamation of culinary art and theatre: no place for those who can't resist temptation.
When "high quality" is synomous with creativity, precision, superb materials and techniques steeped in tradition, then the textiles of SylvieThiriez are of the highest quality. I never leave Paris without making a Sylvie Thiriez purchase - a one stop gift shop for family presents as well as the occasional present for myself.

Oh my goodness! I followed the links here from the comment you left on my blog, and I've apparently found a kindred spirit. I also love Sylvie Thiriez and always pick up a few torchons to tuck in my carry-on (one year I picked up the most charming little stuffed goat for Nola). And Deyrolle is always good for an hour or two of pure magic. I've only admired La Pâtisserie des Rêves from outside, but this year will remedy that as I'm visiting with my sister rather than my husband. Ah, Paris!
Pleased to discover your blog. I'll be back!
What a wonderful walk and video!
Thanx for your visit on my blog!!!!

I agree Rue du Bac is also one of my favourite streets.
I don't think I could possibly resist that patisserie. How delicious. Excellent reflection. Thanks for your comment on my blog. That particular underground line (Bakerloo) is not accessible for disabled users. It is a very deep line in places and there are no lifts only stairs or escalators.
Oh Paris is always in my mind one way or another. It has always influenced me in my cooking, fashion, home decor and most of all, in my dreams. It is a place of profound beauty and history that inspires me each snd everyday. And although I have only visited Paris, its images will live in my heart for ever.
I love the tour. The dips look magnificent. Specifically the cute Patisserie. I would love yo spend a day browsing through the antiques markets. Maybe someday you should organize a trip for all of us. That would be amazing.
Thank you for visiting me. Your beautiful words as always make me happy.
Fondly,
Janet
Oh Elizabeth, so not fair that I were not a shopping partner of yours when you travel those charming streets shopping your French heart for beauty.
Loved that you shared Sylvie's video, it made this shopping experiance here with you that much more real, loving the totes, Union Jack hand bags, and the sweets delight so much so I want to bake up some French delights so I can tease myself as if I were in France.
I cannot tell you how over joyed I was to see you visit here with me, my only regrets is that you do not post enough and the waiting is far to long. I so want to hear more of what is inspiring you in France, and the beauty you are creating at home there.
Thank you beautiful Friend for taking the time to joy my night and leaving a comment that touches my French heart.
See you soon my dear friend,
Xx

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll definitely check it out next time I'm in Paris! Love it! xx
I have "pinned" your post for future must see locations. Thank you so much and have a lovely weekend dear one.
This is a wonderful post and I especially appreciate your clear and easy-to-read map and route! My Paris trips haven't brought me to this spot yet -- so, I'm making a note in the "next time" book!
